What advantage does Managed Hosting provide, over self managed servers?
The benefits of managed hosting include:
- You as the customer, do not need to have any technical 'know how' to fully enjoy the benefits of a managed server that is reliable and secure
- Most managed VPS services come with an SLA (Service License Agreement - contract) agreement that fully protects your arrangement with Webdev such that we have an obligation to have their services up as per the SLA stipulations otherwise we as Webdev are penalized for low quality service
- The server is secured and monitored and quickly attended to by experienced technical professionals, whereas for an unmanaged server, you as the owner also has to worry about monitoring the server and services as well as securing their application on the server as well as the server itself (can be a full time job)
As the VPS is managed from the OS level - you do not have to maintain Operating System updates or patches, as Webdev Staff manage this on your behalf. Operating system version upgrades can be requested free of charge for Linux based VPS’s.
